According to the Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter David Leslie Johnson has been hired to write "Aquaman" starring Jason Momoa and scheduled for a July 27, 2018 release.

Previously it was reported that Warner Bros. had hired two writers, Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad, to develop competing scripts for the movie that will be directed by James Wan. The Hollywood Reporter's sources suggest that Johnson will work directly with Wan to streamline development.

Johnson's previous work includes the films "Wrath of the Titans" and "Red Riding Hood" as well as "The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist" which will be directed by Wan.
